A daughter, Brystal Ruth, weighing 8 lbs. 8 oz., was born on July 16 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls to Joe and Jayna Backus of Crooks. Grandparents are Wayne and Bonnie Backus of Wentworth and James and Ruth Ackerman of George, Iowa.
