The Madison Lady Bulldogs claimed their 20th Class A gymnastics title over the weekend in Aberdeen.

This is going to be the only dynasty I will be able to see. If the girls stay healthy, there is a good chance they will be adding more state titles in the near future.

Madison had only one senior on the team this year, Cayden Eliason.

The 20 titles is not a state record; the Sioux Falls Washington Warriors (boys track and field team) claims that record. When there was only one class for track (1906-1945), the Warriors won 17 titles. When there were two classes in track (1946-1968), Sioux Falls Washington claimed 13 state titles; and since the state went to three classes (1969 to present), the Warriors have won three championships. If my addition is correct, the Warriors have won 33 track and field titles.

The 20 state titles that the Lady Bulldogs have won should be second on the list for high school state titles.

Coming in third with 19 state titles is the Rapid City Stevens girls' track and field team with 19 state championships.

Fourth are the West Central Trojans in football; they have won 12 state Class 11A titles.
