Veterinary Medicine

Question: What do I need to do for my new puppy?

Answer: Congratulations on your new puppy! Take it to your veterinarian for a check-up, vaccinations and deworming. A series of vaccines for distemper and parvo are necessary because the immunity from its mother's colostrum interferes with getting a good response to the vaccine until it is 3 months old. A rabies vaccination can be given at 12 weeks.

Flea and heartworm prevention is important. Begin teaching it to walk on a leash and do tricks. Choose a good quality food. Enjoy your new friend!
