SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — The South Dakota Highway Patrol has identified the two men who died in a fiery highway crash near Sioux Falls.

Twenty-four-year-old Michael Williams and 59-year-old Charles Puthoff both died at the scene of a head-on crash on Highway 42 just west of Wall Lake Thursday, according to the patrol.

Puthoff was driving a pickup truck, pulling a trailer with a tractor on it, eastbound on Highway 42 when it struck a westbound pickup driven by Williams.

Both vehicles started on fire, and both drivers, the lone occupants in their trucks, were pronounced dead on scene.

The Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
