Despite plans to keep at least part of N.W. 2nd St. open to through traffic during this summer’s SD-34 reconstruction project in Madison, the managers of the construction project plan to close north-south traffic at the N.W. 2nd St.-Washington Ave. intersection for three days at the start of August.

Adam Dalseide, T&R Contracting project manager, met with the Madison City Commission on Monday to discuss closing the intersection from Aug. 1-3 to assist the new installation of sewer infrastructure at the site. Dalseide said closing the intersection will ease the difficulties of installation in a significantly “tight” work area.

The construction contractor, state Department of Transportation officials and city officials will meet before the end of July to determine logistics for the intersection closure, including a detour for north-south traffic. Dalseide said the work should not halt east-west traffic through the intersection.
