Helen Lucile Jensen died on May 15, 2019.

Helen Lucile (Chamberlin) Jensen was born March 7, 1922 to Clarence and Belle (Hook) Chamberlin at home on their farm near Flandreau, SD. She graduated from Egan High School in 1939 and received her teaching certificate from Eastern State Normal School in Madison, SD in 1940. She married Leslie Donald Jensen on December 25, 1941 in Flandreau, SD.

Les was drafted into the Army in May of 1942 during WWII. She taught first and second grade at the Franklin Consolidated School until joining him in Temple, TX where he was stationed as a Medic. It was during this time that Helen accepted Christ as her personal Savior and began growing in the Word of God. Upon discharge from the service in 1946, Les and Helen began their 34 years of farming near Oldham, SD. They were very active in the Oldham Baptist Church where Helen faithfully taught Sunday School and Released Time, showed hospitality to many visiting pastors and missionaries, and devoted herself to be a Titus 2 example.

At retirement in 1984 they moved to Madison, SD for 15 years and then to live alongside their daughter, Carol Glassel, in Shakopee, MN in December of 1999.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years; parents; and 2 sisters, Ruth Koester and Doris Hasvold.

She is survived by daughter, Carol (Terry) Glassel; 4 grandchildren, Heidi (Ron) Caasi, Holli (Mark) Waggoner, Nathan (Laura) Glassel, and Ethan (Celeste) Glassel; 13 great-grandchildren, Samuel, Isaac, Isaiah, David and Caleb Caasi; Ryan, Patrick, Katie and Rebecca Waggoner; Monty, Eddi, Emory and Geoffrey Glassel.

Visitation is Sunday, May 19 from 3-5 PM at McNearney-Schmidt Funeral Home, 1220 3rd Ave. E., Shakopee, MN 952-445-2755. Visitation is Monday, May 20 from 10-11 AM followed by a Funeral Service at 11 AM both at Liberty Baptist Church, 6500 Baker Rd., Eden Prairie, MN.

Additional services will be held in South Dakota with a visitation Tuesday, May 21 from 10-11 AM at Johnson-Henry Funeral Home, 305 E. Ash, Oldham, SD followed by interment at Oldham City Cemetery, Oldham, SD.

McNearney-Schmidt Funeral and Cremation is in charge.
