James Dee Schirmacher was born September 10, 1963 in La Puente, CA to William & Beverly (Symons) Schirmacher. In 1982, he graduated from Lake Central High School in Madison and continued his education at Willmar Vo-Tech. Jim returned to the Madison area to work as a mechanic and worked other various jobs. He starting working at Wrap-It in Howard and little did he know, that is where he would meet his future bride, Sandy in 1991.

Jim married Sandy Scheel on June 19, 1992 in Howard. In 1997, Jim could no longer work, and he became disabled from a debilitating form of arthritis that has been with him since he was born. As a young kid, he never let his condition slow him down; if anything, it made him work very hard to overcome the pain just so he could fit in with the rest of the kids.

He loved to ride his motorcycle, go fishing and getting ice cream and taking a drive around the lake with family. He also loved camping, repairing small engines and most of all, spending time with his grandkids and other family. Jim enjoyed going to local dirt track racing and a staunch Packers fan.

Jim is survived by his wife, Sandy of Yankton; four children, Lyle (Kaitlyn) Scheel of Hawarden, IA, Shari Scheel of Houston, TX, Kassi Schirmacher of Madison, SD and Jimmy Scheel (special friend, Mercedes) of Mapleton, IA; seven grandchildren, Samantha Scheel, Curtis Johnson, Melanie Scheel, Vincent Garrett, Anna Marie Musgrove, Alyster Scheel and Archer Scheel; two sisters, Geri (Clellie) Lembcke of Madison, SD, and Gwenn Schirmacher of Sheridan, WY; one brother, Mark (Rose) Schirmacher of Lynd, MN; father-in-law, Dennis Scheel of Howard, SD.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Jr.; niece, Elizabeth Ann Wilcox; sister-in-law, Tanya Scheel; and mother-in-law, Joy Scheel.
