Prairie Village variety show is Sunday

The sixth annual Prairie Village Variety Show will be held on Sunday beginning at 7 p.m. in the Lawrence Welk Opera House.

Coordinators Bev Mader and Donna Mathison said there are "12 talent acts representing a very good variety of talented people from our area and some from other communities."

Performers who will be singing include Madison's Kelli Wollmann accompanying herself on guitar; Taiya Coomes; Hailey Delzer accompanying herself on guitar; and Sophia Peterreins; Maddy Eich of Ramona with piano accompanist Esther Hyland; Rilyn Groos of Colman; and Hanna Antrim of Howard.

The solo pianists are Danny Cao of Madison and Brendan Hansen of Sioux Falls. Rachel Black, originally from Rutland, will perform a hoola hoop dance routine. Kenli Carlson of Lake Preston will perform jazz and tap dance routines.

James Kropenske of Mitchell will entertain the audience by singing classic country music, accompanying himself on guitar. he is retired from the Air Force and is a member of the South Dakota Country Music Hall of Fame. He performs in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas for six months of the year. He performs at many venues in South Dakota while living here for the other six months.

The newly-renovated Opera House is air-conditioned and provides seating as well as concessions before the show and during intermission.

The doors open to the public at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $6 for adults and $2 for ages 6-12. All proceeds from the Variety Show go toward upkeep and items needed for the Opera House.
