South Dakota State University Extension is hosting open house meetings in eight locations to address the current state of farming due to excessive moisture.

These are come-and-go meetings with no formal presentations. Bring questions and concerns regarding delayed planting, forages, cover crop mixtures, insurance and herbicides.

Experts will be on hand to answer questions and offer further resources.

One open house is set for Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. at the Lake County 4-H Center in Madison.

Other dates and locations are: Thursday, 2-4 p.m., Marion Legion Hall; Thursday, 6-8 p.m., Southeast Research Farm, Beresford; Monday, 10 a.m. to noon, Mitchell Technical Institute's Nordby Trades Center; Monday, 2-4 p.m., Kimball Legion Hall; and June 18, 2-4 p.m., Wessington Springs courthouse community room.

Other meetings were held in Armour and Tabor on Monday.

There is no fee and no registration required. SDSU ice cream will be provided for those attending.
