Broncos cruise to 13-0 over Lennox

The Madison Broncos picked up their fourth Cornbelt League win of the season on Thursday. The Broncos cruised to a 13-0 win over Lennox Only One at Madison's Flynn Field.

It was the Broncos' fourth league win in the last five Cornbelt League contests.

After a scoreless first inning, the Broncos started to hang up runs in the next four innings. Madison scored once in the second frame and three times in the third.

The Broncos broke open the game in the fourth frame as eight batters stepped to the plate and Madison scored six runs. The big blow was a three-run home run by Brian Miller with one out.

Madison tacked on three more runs in the fifth frame.

Madison belted out 17 hits off two Lennox hurlers. Miller smacking a home run and drove in four runs. Trevor Johnson had a double, a single and two RBIs. Heith Williams had a double and a single. Jacob Giles hit three singles.

Greg Biagi had two singles and four RBIs. Nick Bird had two singles and two RBIs. Matt Burpee hit a pair of singles. Jon Waba, Lakin Neugebauer and Doug Iverson each had a single.

Bird went the distance, allowing Lennox just four hits while striking out three and walking two.

Both teams committed two errors.

Madison (5-5 overall, 4-4 in Cornbelt League) will head to Canova on Sunday to battle the unbeaten Canova Gang in a 2 p.m. Cornbelt League contest.

The Broncos will go to Humboldt on Tuesday to battle the Hartford/Humboldt Gamecocks in a 7:30 p.m. Cornbelt League game.
