The Madison Bulldogs competed in the First Dakota Relays at Yankton on Thursday.

The highlight of the meet was provided by Nolan Johnson. With a toss of 137-feet-03, Johnson placed second in the discus throw and broke the state qualifying standard.

That was the best finish for the boys' team.

Kadin Hanscom, Caileb Reilly, Jacob Unterbrunner and Bruce Galde placed third in the 800-meter relay in 1:38.09.

In the girls' division, Abby Brooks was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.51 seconds and fourth in the 300-meter hurdles in 50.47 seconds.

Morgan Hansen was fourth in the pole vault with a vault of 7-09.

Izzy Gors, Kendra Leighton, Kylie Krusemark and Ellie Keller placed fourth in the medley relay in 4:49.32.

Emily VanLiere placed fourth in the high jump with a leap of 4-08.

The Barker Relays for Saturday are canceled due the incoming weather.

The next action for the Bulldogs will be May 3 at Sioux Falls for the Sioux Falls O'Gorman qualifier at 8 a.m. and the Howard Wood Dakota Relays at 4 p.m.
