Tappe throws no-hitter to propel Madison in semifinals

Tyler Tappe tossed a no-hitter as the Madison Bulldogs club baseball team rolled past Woonsocket/West Springs/Sanborn Central 10-0 in a first-round game of the Region 2B Tournament on Tuesday at Baughman-Belatti Park.

Madison banged out 10 hits off five W/WS/SC pitchers. Evan Appelwick was 3-for-4 at the plate with a triple, a double, a single and one RBI. Braden Eimers had two hits and an RBI. Aspen Dahl added two hits. Mitch Williams had one hit and three RBIs. Tappe had one hit and two RBIs. Zach Whitlock had a hit and an RBI. Colby Mennis added an RBI.

Tappe struck out nine batters and walked seven.

Madison (15-4) will go to Redfield on Monday for the semifinals of the Region 2B Tournament. The Bulldogs will play Deuel/Castlewood/Hamlin with the winner advancing to the State Tournament. The other semifinal game has Redfield playing Oldham-Ramona-Rutland/Arlington with the winner advancing to the State Tournament.

The two winners will play for the Region 2B championship game. No official time has been set for the start of the games.
