Flyers set two school records at Big East Conference Meet

The Chester Flyers had two individuals break state standard qualifying marks and set two school records at the Big East Conference Track & Field Meet held in Parker on Monday.

Chester placed second in the boys' division with 116.50 points, trailing only Beresford.

Isaiah Young had a big day for the Flyers. He had a hand in three first-place finishes. Young won the 100-meter dash in a state qualifying time of 11.0 seconds.

He was the anchor leg of the winning 400- and 800-meter relay teams. Alex VanEgdom, Jarret Sengelman, Alex Tammen and Young won the 400-meter relay in 46.10 seconds.

Sengelman, Tammen, Aden Baumberger and Young won the 800-meter relay team in 1;36.3.

In the girls' division, Chester placed third with 88 points.

Jadon Wages reached a state qualifying standard in the discus with a toss of 110-feet-06 and placed second.

Jennilee Hoyer, Cami Streff, Karly Campbell, Makenna Larson placed first in the 1600-meter relay in a school-record 4:13.1. The previous record was set in 1987.

Streff won the 800-meter run in 2:32.6.

Larson set a school record in the 100-meter dash in 11.9 seconds and placed third.

Chester will go to Elkton for the Region 4B Meet on Thursday beginning at 10 a.m.
