Chester boys, Colman-Egan girls win Region 4B titles

The Chester boys and the Colman-Egan girls won team titles at the Region 4B Track and Field Meet at Elkton on Thursday.

Chester used six first-place finishes and racked up 124 points to claim the title. Following the Flyers were Hanson 117, Eklkton-Lake Benton 86, Colman-Egan 83, Dell Rapids St. Mary 82, Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 58, Oldham-Ramona-Rutland 54, Howard 53, Mitchell Christian 31 and McCrossan 10.

Chester's Isaiah Young had a hand in four first-place finishes for the Flyers. He won the 100- and 200-meter dashes in 11.49 and 24.24 seconds, respectively.

Young was the anchor leg on the winning 400-meter relay team which crossed the finish line in 45.80 seconds. Other runners on the team were Alex VanEgdom, Jarret Sengelman and Alex Tammen.

Sengelman, Tammen, Aden Baumberger and Young crossed the finish line in first in the 800-meter relay in 1:36.20.

The 1600-meter relay team of Tammen, Jordan Campbell, Chris Mohr and Baumberger placed first in 3:44.23.

VanEgdom, Tammen, Baumberger and Mohr won the medley relay in 4:01.92.

Colman-Egan had three individual winners. Ryan Voelker won the 300-meter hurdles in 42.99 seconds. Dalton Voelker won the shot put with a toss of 47-feet-06.50. Alec Landis won the discus with a toss of 138-05.

Howard had one individual winner. Colton Spader won the high jump with a leap of 6-00.

In the girls' division, the Colman-Egan Hawks had six first-place finishes and racked up 139 points to claim the team title. Following the Hawks were Hanson 138, Chester 115, Elkton-Lake Benton 80, Dell Rapids St. Mary 75, Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 64, Howard 52, Mitchell Christian 25, Oldham-Ramona-Rutland 15 and Lutheran High School of Sioux Falls 3.

Colman-Egan's Mackenzie Hemmer made a clean sweep of the hurdles. She won the 100-meter hurdles in 16.08 seconds and the 300-meters in 50.12 seconds.

Josie Mousel won the high jump with a leap of 5-02. Olivia Baumberger won the long jump with a leap of 16-03.75.

The Hawks claimed the 400- and 800-meter relay teams in times of 52.47 seconds and 1:50.82, respectively.

Chester had five individual champions and two relay teams that earned first-place finishes.

Makenna Larson won both the 100- and 200-meter dashes in times of 12.47 seconds and 26.71 seconds, respectively.

Larson was the anchor leg of the winning 1600-meter relay team that crossed the finish line in 4:15.55. Other members of the team were Jennilee Hoyer, Cami Streff and Karly Campbell.

Streff won the 1600-meter run in 5:35.86.

Jadon Wages won both the shot put with a toss of 34-07.25 and the discus with a throw of 104-09.

Hanna Reiff, Campbell, Hannah Nelson and Hoyer won the medley relay in 4:15.55.

Emma Neises of Howard won the 3200-meter run in 13:09.04.

All of the teams will go to Sioux Falls this weekend for the State B Track and Field at Howard Wood Field.
