Broncos belt out 14 hits in 8-3 victory over Dell Rapids Mudcats

The Madison Broncos' offense came to life against the Dell Rapids Mudcats during a Cornbelt League contest on Sunday night at Dell Rapids.

Madison banged out 14 hits en route to an 8-3 win against the Mudcats.

Matt Burpee had a double, a single and two RBIs to lead the Broncos' offensive attack. Doug Iverson had a single and two RBIs.

Lakin Neugebauer, Greg Biagi, Nick Bird and Brian Miller each had two hits while Heith Williams, Mitch McNary and Trevor Johnson each had one hit for the winners.

McNary, Bird and Johnson each had an RBI.

Brandon Burg started on the mound for the Broncos and worked 5 1/3 innings. He gave up one run on three hits, struck out two and walked seven.

Bird picked up the win in relief as he worked 2 1/3 innings. He gave up two runs (one unearned) on three hits, struck out two and walked one.

McNary finished on the hill for Madison and pitched one inning. He allowed two hits.

Madison (3-4 overall, 2-3 in league) will go to Humboldt twice this week. On Tuesday, Madison will play a makeup game with the Hartford-Humboldt Gamecocks at 7:30 p.m. On Thursday, the Broncos will go to Humboldt to face the Hartford-Humboldt Wood Ducks at 7:30 p.m. contest. Both games are league matchups.
