Colman-Egan girls place second in DVC Meet

The Colman-Egan girls placed second in the Dakota Valley Conference on Thursday at DeSmet.

The Hawks scored 133.50 points behind the Deubrook Dolphins, who ran away with the team title by scoring 185 points.

Following the top two teams were Estelline-Hendricks 107.50, Dell Rapids St. Mary 72, Castlewood 42, Arlington 42, DeSmet 41, Lake Preston 33, Elkton-Lake Benton 30 and Oldham-Ramona-Rutland 9.

Josie Mousel had a huge day for the Hawks, winning two individual events and helping one relay team to first place. Mousel won the 200-meter dash in 26.49 seconds and won the high jump with a leap of 5-feet-01.

Olivia Baumberger, Elizabeth Moore, Mackenzie Hemmer and Mousel won the 800-meter relay in 1:51.24.

Colman-Egan's 400-meter relay team of Moore, Berkley Groos, Daniela Lee and Baumberger crossed the finish line in first place in 53.42 seconds.

Baumberger won the long jump with a leap of 16-02.

In the boys' division, Colman-Egan placed fourth in the team standings with 94 points. Winning the title was Deubrook with 114 points.

Following the Dolphins were Dell Rapids St. Mary 103, DeSmet 103, Colman-Egan 94, Elkton-Lake Benton 72, Lake Preston 61, Castlewood 50, Estelline-Hendricks 41, Oldham-Ramona-Rutland 38 and Arlington 25.

Colman-Egan's Ryan Voelker won the 110-meter hurdles in 16.39 seconds. The foursome of Nate Tolley, R. Voelker, Dalton Voelker and Eli Bowen won the 400- and 800-meter relays with times of 47.07 seconds and 1:39.40, respectively.

With a toss of 47-10.75 D. Voelker won the shot put.
