The Madison Bulldogs track and field team was outdoors for the first time on Thursday, competing in a dual meet with Sioux Falls O'Gorman in Sioux Falls.

Madison had two winners in the girls' division. Kylie Krusemark won the 100-meter dash in 13.64 seconds. Jesse Tappe won the 3200-meter race in 13:05.67.

Abby Brooks was second in both the 400-meter dash in 1:04.72 and the 100-meter hurdles in 17.40 seconds.

Emily VanLiere was second in the high jump with a leap of 4-08.

In the boys' division, Madison had one individual champion. Nolan Johnson won the discus with a toss of 119-03.

Six Bulldogs placed second in individual events. Bruce Galde was second in the 100-meter dash in 11.94 seconds. Jacob Unterbrunner was second in the 400-meter dash in 56.08 seconds. Keaton Nighbert was second in the 800-meter run in 2:25.22.

Mickale Dohrer was second in the 1600-meter run in 5:11.21. Deion Cross was second in the 3200-meter run in 11:47.19. Ammon Hawkes was second in the pole vault with a vault of 11-03.

"We had a good start to our track and field season with Ammon qualifying for the state meet in the pole vault," said Coach Maxine Unterbrunner. "It was a little chilly, but it was really good for the team to be able to compete on the track and field."

Madison will go to Hartford for the West Central Early Bird Meet on Tuesday beginning at 4 p.m.
