Lady Bulldogs place fourth at State A Meet

The Madison Lady Bulldogs placed fourth in the Class A Golf Tournament which concluded on Tuesday at Lee Park Golf Course in Aberdeen.

Madison finished the two-day, 36-hole event with a 743. Winning the team title was West Central with a low score of 703.

Following the Trojans were Sisseton 717, Hot Springs 730, Madison 743, Parkston 744, Sioux Falls Christian 767, Winner 777, Canton 779, Belle Fourche 781, Vermillion 787, Milbank 796, Mobridge-Pollock 818, Elk Point-Jefferson 832, Chamberlain 846, St. Thomas More 852 and Dell Rapids 873.

Leading the way for the Lady Bulldogs was Mya Maxwell. The Madison junior tied for third-place with a two-day total of 157 (81-76) she tied with Kelsey Heath of Sisseton who also carded a 157.

Maxwell was just four strokes behind the individual winner Payson Birkeland of Belle Fourche who fired a 153 (77-76). Rounding out the top five place winners were Lauren Tims, Sioux Falls Christian, 156; Maxwell and Heath, 157 and Alex Carr, Vermillion 158.

Madison junior Kelsey Gustaf also finished in the top 20 as she tied for 18th with a two-day total of 182 (91-91).

Rounding out the scoring for Madison were junior Elizabeth Ellingson, tied for 30th, 190 (95-95) and freshman Alison Vacanti, tied for 64th, 214 (106-108).

Madison lone senior Jenni Waba placed 90th with a two-day total of 253 (126-127).
