Madison Gold wins I-29 League Tournament

The Madison Gold (15-16) VFW Teener Baseball team won the I-29 League championship last weekend at Tea. Madison Gold went through the tournament with a 5-0 record to claim the championship.

There were 12 teams vying for the championship with the top two teams from each division advancing to the championship game and the third and fourth place contest.

In the opening game Madison Gold downed Tri-Valley Maroon 17-7. Seth Fernau had a pair of hits while Sam Olson and Ryker Hawkins each had three RBIs.

Fernau, Ethan Buskness and Zach Whitlock were on the mound for Madison.

Madison slipped past Hamlin in the second game 4-1. Fernau had a pair of hits. Whitlock and Chris Thennis were on the mound.

Fueled by Branden Eimers, Madison topped Volga 9-1 in the third game. Eimers had two hits, two RBIs and was on the mound for the winners.

Thennis and Olson also had two hits while Buskness and Hawkins each had one RBI.

Buskness was also on the mound for Madison Gold.

Madison Gold raced to a 14-2 win over Tri-Valley White in the fourth game. Logan Allbee and Eimers each had two hits while Whitlock had one hit. Allbee had a game-high four RBIs and Eimers added two.

Thennis went the distance for Madison Gold.

In the championship game Madison Gold downed Salem-Montrose 5-0. Allbee, Olson and Buskness each had one hit while Buskness and Fernau each had one RBI.

Fernau and Whitlock were on the mound.

Madison Gold is currently 7-0.
