Bulldogs claim team title at West Central Early Bird Meet

The Madison Bulldogs track and field teams competed in the Early Bird Track and Field hosted by West Central at Hartford on Tuesday afternoon.

Madison won three individual events and one relay team placed first in the boys division to gain the team title with 142.67 points.

Following the Bulldogs were West Central 132, Mt. Vernon/Plankinton 75, Baltic 71, Tri-Valley 69, Garretson 38.33 and Parker 22.

Claiming individual titles were Caileb Reilly in the 110-meter high hurdles as he crossed the finish line in 16.8 seconds.

With a leap of 38-feet-6 Truman Stoller claimed first place in the triple jump.

Nolan Johnson picked up the third title for the Bulldogs in the discus. Johnson's winning distance was 123-00.

The foursome of Bruce Galde, Reilly, Jacob Unterbrunner and Carter Bergheim won the 800-meter relay as they were clocked in 1:39.16.

Madison picked up three individual first-place finishes and one relay team placed first in the girls portion of the meet as the Bulldogs placed second in the team standings with 96 points.

West Central won the team title with 177 points. Following the Trojans were Madison 96, Garretson 80.50, Mt. Vernon/Plankinton 80, Parker 56, Tri-Valley 29 and Baltic 24.50.

Winning individual titles included Jessie Tappe in the 3200-meter with a time of 12:36.65.

Emily VanLiere won the high jump with a leap of 4-08.

Morgan Anderson claimed the long jump with a leap of 16-06.50.

The foursome of Maddie Gerry, Kylie Krusemark, Abby Brooks and Kate Comes crossed the finish line in 4:50.20 to win the sprint medley relay.

Madison will go to Volga on Tuesday for the Sioux Valley Invitational with the first event starting a 4 p.m.
