City to review grant agreements

The Madison City Commission will review an agreement for the city to receive a grant for playground equipment when it meets at 5:30 p.m. on Monday at City Hall.

The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department has offered a 50-50 grant up to a total of $75,000 for Madison officials to purchase playground equipment for Memorial Park.

The city commissioners will also study a grant agreement for the Madison Fire Department to receive a $3,900 award from the S.D. Department of Agriculture.

In other business, the commissioners will consider:

-- Authorizing the mayor to sign an amendment to an agreement with the Prunty Construction Company regarding work on the W. Center St. project

-- Authorizing the mayor to sign an application for SDN Communications to occupy a right of way to install about ½ mile of fiber-optic cable along N.W. 9th St.

-- Authorizing the mayor to sign an application for Sundog Coffee to occupy a right of way to install a temporary platform in downtown Madison.

-- Authorizing the mayor to sign an application for Falcon Plastics to install a storm-sewer inlet.

-- Reviewing bids for a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and awarding a bidder.

-- Approving a peddlers license application submitted by the Southwestern Company to sell educational books in Madison on June 18-29.

-- Approving two Phase III archaeological surveys for the city’s water system improvement project and the Tru Shrimp construction project.

-- Approving a plat for a lot in Williams’ 18th Addition located in the Ramm Heights Drive neighborhood.
